Born in San Diego, California, Oscar Cardona, is an up-n-coming recording artist and performer who's creating a strong buzz on the internet and throughout the West Coast. Most recently, this aspiring artist dropped his latest single titled “Posed To”, which is now available for purchase on Spotify, Apple Music, and Pandora. PEM linked up with Oscar Cardona to talk about his.new music and upcoming projects.
PEM: Now you're a native of Vegas, NV correct?
OC: I was actually born in San Diego, Californian, but I actually visited Vegas very often. Actually, my family moved to Vegas when I was two years old, so I claim Vegas to be my hometown. Vegas pretty much showed me the game and helped shape me into who I've become.
PEM: So growing up, who all did and do you consider to be your strongest musical influences?
OC: Growing up I really was into 2pac, after that it was probably Eminem then Dr Dre. (Laughs). My strongest musical influence is my emotions. Music is a tool for me, it's a expression. It gives me identity, even before I knew that's what it was doing for me. (Laughs)
PEM: What’s on the horizon for you, what songs or projects are you working on and what is in the pipeline as far as music that will actually make it out into the marketplace?
OC: The horizon hmm? There's so much in the works all I can say is I'm super excited about the future. I don't know how much details I can give out, but we're dropping a single and visual every month. I just put out Posed To, so you guy's should go play and share that right now. It's gonna be streaming on Apple Music, Pandora, Spotify etc.. I'm sure you guys will come across it. The next visual I'm actually super siked about is the new song "Uhhh". What else is in the pipeline, I do a lot more than just music. I have a few start ups that are looking to be potential monsters so I'm siked about that.
PEM: Who are some major, new, artist or producers you would like to work with in the future?
OC: New artist that I actually bump and would be siked to work with, I wanna say Blackbear and Bryson Tiller. We have some connections to reach out to Blackbear, so hopefully that will happen sometime in the near future.
PEM: What was the first project you put out that started gaining serious attention around Vegas?
OC: The first project that got me real buzz is hard to pin point. I've been doing this since 2010, people didn't really take to me at first. Over time I stuck around and my music started getting better so people started to take to me. I wanna say it didn't get serious till my song the Fear came out with my last project Welcome To The Oscars.
PEM: Who do you listen to right now? What albums have you heard and liked?
OC: I've really been bumpin' Blackbear, a lot of the LA sound is super dope right now.
PEM: What do you want people to get from your music?
OC: I guess what I want people to get from my music is, the vibe I'm putting out on each song. All the songs are different with a different type of emotion behind it. If people can connect and relate to it that's f****** awesome to me.
PEM: What's Next for Oscar Cardona?
OC: Pretty much that's it boss. If you guys wanna see what's coming next just keep an eye out, I'll be around for awhile for sure.
